Proclaim: The Power of Shaping Your Reality with Words.
Introduction
Have you ever stopped to consider the
true power behind the word "proclaim"? It is one of those words we
often encounter in the Bible, but how often do we reflect on its profound
meaning? Today, I delved into its significance for the first time. To proclaim
means to announce officially and publicly; to indicate clearly and emphatically.
This post explores the significance of proclaiming, its biblical roots, and
practical steps to harness this power to shape our reality.
In the Bible, the word “proclaim” is
adopted in various contexts, such as to declare, preach, and make known. Proclamations
are used in the Bible as powerful declarations that can change realities. From war
to goodness, the gospel and God’s kingdom; anything can be proclaimed.
In today’s world, although the word “proclaim”
seems a bit unpopular, proclaiming can be seen in various forms such as public
announcements, speeches and even social media posts. The essence remains the same-
to declare something with conviction and clarity.
The Power Of Your Words
Words have the power to create. In the biblical account of creation, God spoke the world into existence. This underscores the belief that words are not just communicative but also creative forces. John 1:1 states,
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
This highlights the divine power of words. Jesus (the Word of God personified) also proclaimed healing, peace, and resurrection, demonstrating the transformative power of spoken words.
In the Bible, proclamations were often made before battles or to declare peace and these declarations set the tone for the events that followed, illustrating the power of spoken intentions.
Jesus
and his disciples proclaimed the gospel, spreading the message of God’s
kingdom. These proclamations were pivotal in establishing the early Christian
church. Individuals in the Bible often made personal declarations of faith,
promises, and intentions. These proclamations were acts of faith and commitment
to their beliefs.

Why do proclamations matter?
Many
people have shared testimonies of how positive affirmations or proclamations
have changed their lives. From overcoming illnesses to achieving personal
goals, the power of words is evident in everyday experiences.
Proclamations
shape our reality. When we speak positively about our desires and goals, we set
a course for those things to manifest. Conversely, negative proclamations can
hinder our progress and bring about undesirable outcomes. Positive
proclamations boost confidence, reduce stress, and improve overall mental
health. They reinforce a positive mindset and encourage proactive behaviour.
Apart
from these, proclaiming aligns with spiritual beliefs that emphasize the power
of faith and positive thinking. It is a tool to affirm one’s trust in God’s power
and the good that is to come.
Often,
in my life’s journey, I find myself forgetting the lessons God has taught me about
the power of my words. As a child of God, not only created in His image and
likeness but also aware of Jesus's promise that I will do even greater
things than He did if I believe in Him (John 14:12), I have the power to shape
my reality through proclamation.
“Why then do we proclaim things we do not want in our reality when we can proclaim the things we do want?”, “What then do you choose to proclaim?”
Practical steps to effective proclamations
1.
Identify
your true desires/intentions-
Begin by identifying the clear and specific intentions you truly desire in your
reality. This could be related to health, wealth, relationships or personal
growth. Clarity is key in making effective proclamations.
2. Positive vs. Negative declarations- Both are proclamations but focus on positive declarations. Instead of saying
“I don’t have money”, or “I don’t want to be poor”, say “I am financially abundant.”Positive statements are just as powerful and constructive.
3.
Consistent
practice- Incorporate
positive proclamations, popularly known as daily affirmations into your daily
practice. These should be simple, clear and positive statements that you repeat
to reinforce your desires. Consistency reinforces your intentions and helps you
to manifest them into reality.
4.
Emotional
Engagement- Engage your
emotions when proclaiming. Feel the words you say and believe in God’s power to
bring about the change you desire.
Proclamation Challenge
1.
Write Down Your Desires: Write 2 things you want to
manifest in your reality as if they are already happening. For example, just as
Jesus said, "Lazarus come forth!" in John 11:43, speak whatever you
want to manifest in your reality, whether it's “I am financially
abundant”, “I am in perfect health”, “Peace surrounds me” etc.
2.
Daily Affirmations: Every day this week, when you wake
up and every time you're around the calming natural element of water, proclaim
those 2 desires and leave it at that.
3. Consistency is Key: Repeat this practice for 7 days. Allow yourself to feel whatever you may feel.

Common Obstacles and How to Overcome Them
1.
Doubt
and Fear- It’s
natural to feel doubt and fear. Combat these feelings by repeating your
proclamations until the negative emotions subside.
2.
Lack
of Consistency- Consistency
is crucial. Set reminders or find a routine that helps you maintain your
proclamation practice.
3.
Negative
mindset- Surround
yourself with positivity. Avoid negative influences and reinforce your
proclamations with positive thoughts and actions.
