Biblical Solutions to Daily Situations

Introduction
It's another Sunday here, and it feels great
to reconnect with you. Today, we're starting a series on Biblical solutions to
everyday situations. In my journey with God and in life, I've realized that
whatever I can find in the Word of God, I can have in my world.
My assignment today, and in the upcoming
series, is to guide you in finding solutions to your everyday life
circumstances in the Word of God so that you can experience them in your world.
A Personal Testimony
Before
I go further, I must share my most recent testimony, where I applied a solution
I found in the Word of God to a very practical situation.
Recently, my partner and I were commuting home
from work. We had started the day with low fuel, unable to purchase any in the
morning due to fuel scarcity and long queues at the fuel stations that had fuel.
We planned to fill up on our way home, but as we drove, we found no available
stations.
As we navigated our way, we ended up on a bridge with our fuel tank blinking empty, while we were stuck in long, slow-moving traffic and an estimated hour-long journey ahead. Anxiety set in; we could be stranded anywhere on that bridge, with no fuel stations in sight. In that moment of anxiety, I recalled the practical instructions in this post- Worry Less, Live More.
I identified the source of my fear. I was
worried about being stranded, which could lead to accidents and inconvenience
for other drivers. After acknowledging my anxiety, I prayed, informing
God of my circumstances and fears and listened for His instructions. God
reminded me to remember His promises regarding my situation.
You
might wonder, where did someone’s fuel finish in the Bible? I laughed at the
thought but then remembered 1 John 5:14-15 and several biblical stories about miraculous
provision/multiplication.
Jesus Feeds the 4000- Matthew 15: 29-39
In a remote place, Jesus had been teaching a crowd for three days. They were hungry and had no food left. Jesus asked His disciples what they had: seven loaves of bread and a few small fish. Jesus instructed the crowd to sit, gave thanks, and broke the bread and fish. Miraculously, the food multiplied, feeding everyone and leaving seven baskets of leftovers.
Elijah and
the Widow of Zarephath- 1 Kings 7:8-16
During a
severe drought, God sent Elijah to a widow in Zarephath. She only had a handful
of flour and a little oil, just enough for a final meal for herself and her
son. Elijah assured her that the jar of flour and jug of oil would not run dry until the
drought ended, and indeed, they miraculously multiplied and sustained her
household.
Elisha and
the Widow’s Oil- 2 Kings 4: 1-7
A widow, distressed about her creditors, approached Elisha. She had only a small jar of olive oil. Elisha instructed her to borrow empty jars and pour oil into them. The oil kept flowing, multiplying until all jars were full. She sold the oil, paid her debts, and lived on the remaining money.
Applying the Principles
From these stories, I understood three principles- [1] Give thanks for what you have; [2] Share what you have with faith; [3] Watch it multiply
I touched the front seat of the car as a way of connecting with the fuel. I thanked God for it and gave it to Him, acknowledging my reliance on His provision. I remembered that every miracle requires faith to focus on the positive. I immediately studied Hebrews 11:1.I began to declare what I needed: enough fuel
to get us to a fuel station. My voice grew louder as the tank kept blinking
empty but, to the absolute glory of God, we didn’t find any fuel stations.
However, miraculously, the fuel lasted the entire journey, fluctuating but
never running out, taking us both home, even without finding an available fuel
station. We both knew that only God could have done this and were immensely
grateful.
This is a practical application of a biblical solution to daily situations. I’m not saying God condones carelessness, but He knew we had made several attempts to fill our tank, and I believe He wanted to be glorified through this situation.
Your Turn
Now,
because our blog is pretty interactive, I invite you to share
a daily situation which you
would like a practical biblical solution, and by God’s grace and guidance, I’ll
help you find a solution in the Word of God. This is your task for the week.
